What can established publishers, independent creators and the next generation of journalists learn from one another?
Join MACMA and FIPP, the global association for the media and magazine content industry, on December 3, 2026, for a conversation about the ideas and innovations shaping media’s future. Our Holiday Extravaganza will bring the two communities together at People Inc. headquarters in New York City for a program built around a shared theme: Innovations in Publishing: Building the Future of Media.
Across the industry, media organizations are finding new ways to reach audiences, develop products and build sustainable businesses. The program will explore those challenges from several perspectives, with conversations featuring leaders from established media brands alongside independent creators and emerging voices.
The program
Leading TIME as a modern media business TIME Editor in Chief Sam Jacobs joins FIPP’s Yulia Boyle to discuss newsroom leadership, events and products across platforms.
The next generation rethinking journalism Carla Zanoni joins three students from the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY—Ambra Schuster, Camila Arostegui and Che de los Reyes-Ferrer—for a conversation about the future of journalism.
The Atlantic: reaching the next generation Lara Longo, executive director of consumer strategy and growth, shares insights on institutional subscriptions and building relationships with young readers.
Independent creators building from scratch Marisa Kabas of The Handbasket joins a panel exploring how independent creators build their businesses and connect with audiences. Two additional panelists will be announced.

Emerging media tools and audience engagement K.J. Edelman of the Financial Times explores practical tools, experimentation and ideas attendees can apply.
The Print Effectiveness Report Kati Murto of UPM joins FIPP’s Alastair Lewis to share evidence on print’s effectiveness and its role in media’s future.
